The popular Cologne Racing Driver, who was and is simply "Der Rolf" for his big fan community, was one of the most successful European all-round drivers of his time, a type of racing driver, which is no longer available today. In good shape he started every year in 30 or more races, every 14 days in another vehicle category at another corner of the world and won almost everyone. Rolf Stommelen was also the first eleven German racing driver in Formula One. He won with Porsche four times the 24h Daytona in the overall classification, twice the 1000 km Nürburgring and already 1967, as a 23-year-old, in the factory 910 the notorious Sicilian curve orgy Targa Florio. In 1977, he won the championship of the DRM in a Loos-Porsche 935.
