The Russian government has been using the label of “terrorists” to target Opposition Figures and justify military actions against neighboring countries. One prominent example is the case of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who has been labeled as a terrorist by the Russian authorities. This labeling allows the government to crackdown on dissent and silence political opponents. Additionally, following the invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin has routinely denounced Ukrainian defensive strikes as “terrorist attacks.” These actions not only undermine the legitimacy of opposition movements and defensive actions but also raise concerns about the abuse of power and human rights violations in Russia.
