Sr. Code Consultant/ Boston MEP Firm

What you will do:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing code consulting projects. Responsibilities include:

Conducting field surveys of existing buildings
Preparing technical field reports
Completing assignments with accuracy and on time
Managing multiple project deadlines with varying priorities
Performing code research
Preparing technical reports addressing the applicable fire and life safety requirements for a particular project
Completing architectural plan reviews for compliance with applicable codes
Providing performance-based design solutions such as fire modeling, egress modeling, and structural fire resistance analyses
Managing multiple project deadlines with varying priorities
Act as the liaison between the client, The firms project team, and Partner in Charge for meeting the client’s project goals and objectives for the overall scope, schedule, and budget
Prepare and monitor project plans, schedule resources and expenditures, and prepare and communicate budgets to the project team
Manage data for invoicing and accounts receivable, resolve issues and work with PIC to initiate corrective actions where necessary
Assist in responding to RFP’s and proposal writing
Responsible for production, productivity, quality, and client service to achieve client satisfaction
Understand and meet the firm’s project financial objectives by forecasting current and future requirements
Supervise technical team and provide technical oversight
Adhere to the firm’s QA/QC process
Participate in client presentations
Assist in training and mentoring junior firm members
Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, engineers, vendors, contractors, and other design and construction professionals
Strengthens job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, writing professional publications, participating in technical organizations and obtaining certifications in area of expertise and participating in the firm’s Technical Committee as requested
Job Requirements
Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (or working towards Bachelor’s degree) from an accredited Architecture, Engineering, or Construction program
10+ years of experience
Solid technical background in building construction and fire safety
Prior fire protection engineering and life safety/code consulting experience
Prior experience with ICC codes, NFPA standards, FDS modeling, and structural fire resistance analysis
Prior project management experience
Comprehensive understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry and knowledge of code-compliance requirements and industry standards
Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines and adapt to flexible responsibilities
Proficient understanding of project financial parameters
Beginning knowledge of contracts and project legal issues
Strong organizational, prioritization, decision making and analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills
Preferred attributes:

Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit skills
Healthcare project experience a plus
Engineer In Training (EIT)/Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification a plus
Professional Engineering License a plus
