Uganda is, for the most part, a safe and attractive place. It is a land where hippos dance in the wetlands and lions rest in the acacias. 1. Kampala 

The ancestral capital of the Buganda kingdom is also the modern day capital of Uganda.

2. Kibale National Park 

Ride through the dense jungles and wetland forests of the great Kibale National Park and you will not be disappointed! What awaits is one of the world's most impressive arrays of wild chimpanzee packs, and you can see the amazing simians of Central Africa running through the undergrowth and commanding the canopies on the drives of game and expert safaris of all kinds.

3. Ssese Islands 

A cocktail of golden sands worthy of Latin America, sun-kissed beaches and lapping waves, the Ssese Islands archipelago is Uganda's answer to the tropical gems of East Africa's Indian Ocean coast.

Launching on the waters of Lake Victoria, they are considered the country's premier relaxation and recreation destination, with the popular Buggala Island and Bulago emerging on the menu.

You can either kick-back at one of the lakes, or ditch the walking boots and make for the hills, where hippos hide dotted between the ridges.

4. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park 

A land of rocky peaks and endless green, it is home to some of Africa's oldest forests.
