Ekaya collaborates with renowned designer Kunal Rawal on menswear collection

India’s first handloom luxury brand Ekaya has collaborated with acclaimed menswear Designer Kunal Rawal to launch a men’s occasion wear line named ‘Neo-Traditional Grooms’.

The launch of Neo-Traditional Grooms comes just in time for the winter festive season and has been designed to offer a modern, creative take on traditional Indian crafts and aesthetics as announced by the company on its Facebook page. The collection features apparel in rich hues mixed with delicate ivory, all with a striking metallic sheen. The tailored sherwanis and trousers have a relaxed yet regal feel, with subtle detailing and geometric patterns referencing Rawal’s design signatures.

Rawal’s designs have been rendered in brocade textiles, a signature fabric used by Ekaya which is rarely used in men’s occasion wear, according to the brand. The collection plays with ideas of luxury, texture, and masculinity by using an unexpected textile for traditional style looks.

“Introducing Ekaya’s first ever unique collaboration with the Indian designer Kunal Rawal to create an all new aesthetic language in handcrafting luxury occasion-wear for men,” Ekaya announced on Facebook, debuting the collaborative line. “Expertly woven, meticulously embroidered, the perfect balance of traditional and contemporary, for the modern groom.”

The Rawal x Ekaya collection was launched on Ekaya’s e-commerce platform and in its flagship stores. Recently, the brand launched ‘Ambush,’ a womenswear collection, designed to offer a modern and bold take on lehengas and sarees.

Brought forth by one of the country’s best-known families renowned for preserving the tradition of Banarasi textiles for over four generations, Ekaya is currently led by Director Bharat Shah and his daughter Palak Shah who is the CEO of the company. The brand comes with 120 years of legacy being carried forth across four generations of the family and a community of over 10,000+ weavers. Ekaya was founded with the goal of changing the way handloom textiles are sold and presented globally, as well as providing its clients with a very distinct product line based on the principles of heritage and artisanship.
