On January 4, 2011, Motorola Inc. underwent an official split into two entities: Motorola Mobility, responsible for the cellphone and cable equipment division, and Motorola Solutions, retaining the telecommunications and enterprise equipment division. Google entered the scene in 2012, acquiring Motorola Mobility for USD 12.5 billion. Nevertheless, in 2014, Lenovo acquired Motorola Mobility from Google for USD 2.91 billion.

Motorola Mobility, under Google’s ownership, released various Android smartphones, including the Moto X series, Moto G series, Droid mini, ultra, and max, Moto E series, Google Nexus 6, and Droid Turbo. Post the Lenovo takeover, the product lineup expanded to include the Moto Z series, Moto M series, Motorola Razr, and Motorola Edge and Edge+. Beyond smartphones, Motorola Mobility diversified its portfolio to include smartwatches, televisions, and smartphone accessories.
