Mobius Books - Spotlight on Alberni

We are back with a new episode of Spotlight in Alberni. This week Chris had the pleasure of speaking with Ryan and Cassidy Toso, about their businesses Mobius Books and Nook Baked Goods. Ryan, the owner and brains behind Mobius Books, grew up in Campbell River and spent some time moving around before returning to the Island. Ryan then lived in Tofino for ten years, where he met his wife Cassidy, and they were drawn to the Alberni Valley for its hiking opportunities and decided to make it their home. Now, let's get into the origin of Mobius Books. Just over two years ago, in April 2021, Mobius Books was born. Ryan's mom had been a bookseller for most of his childhood, so when she retired from her bookstore in Campbell River, Ryan was looking for a career change and saw an opportunity to open a bookstore in Port Alberni. And so, with the help of his mom, who taught him the ropes, Mobius Books came to be. So, what will you find at Mobius Books? It's a general bookstore with all new books that aim to cover as many topics as possible within its small space and budget. However, Ryan focuses on children's books because they're a lot of fun, and he has a one-year-old. In addition to books, you can also find journals and some fun puzzles. But wait, there's more! Just two months ago, Ryan and Cassidy added another delicious element to their business - Nook Baked Goods. If you like sourdough bread, cookies, and jams, you must visit Nook Baked Goods. Their sourdough bread is so popular that it's only available from Wednesday to Saturday, from noon until it's sold out. If you want to check out these local businesses, you'll find them at 5016 Argyle Street in uptown Port Alberni. Mobius Books is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 am - 5:30 pm, while Nook Baked Goods is only open on Wednesdays to Saturdays, from noon until goods are sold out. We had a great time chatting with Ryan and Cassidy and learning about Mobius Books and Nook Baked Goods. Seeing people follow their passions and create something amazing is always inspiring.  Thanks for tuning into this week's Spotlight on Alberni. We'll see you next time.
