Top 5 Books For The Budding Entrepreneur

It’s no surprise that people who read are a mile ahead of those who don’t. Especially for a Budding Entrepreneur, constant learning is key. Finding ways to carve out enough space in the day (or night) to dedicate to reading is the difference between a hobbyist and a successful entrepreneur.

Every Book has a story to tell and a lesson to learn, but choosing the right book will somehow leave you changed afterward.

Here’s a list of 5 books that we hope continue to keep you inspired.

The $100 Startup by Chris Guillebeau

Who says you need to be a trust fund baby to get the moolah for your startup dream. Neither do your stars need to align to predict how lucky you will be. In this book, Guillebeau gives inspiring examples of somewhat-accidental entrepreneurs making a success out of strife, opportunity, and circumstances. Mostly, the book emphasizes the potential of turning a passion or hobby into something that can be profitable. This doesn’t mean that he encourages every arts and crafts hobbyist to open a store, but he does promote creative thinking about how you can leverage a natural talent or long-loved activity into a business model.

The Fire Starter Sessions by Danielle LaPorte

This is a book for every entrepreneur that dreams of pursuing their passion. LaPorte doles out 16 beautifully designed sessions that are full of motivational goodness. But mind you, her language is nothing preachy and is enough to pump you up to kickstart your startup idea. She makes the book even more wholesome by giving personal anecdotes, making her oh-so-relatable. This book is a perfect combo of self-help and marketing 101. One read may not be enough to level up.

Enchantment by Guy Kawasaki

This is a book for entrepreneurs that have already established their customer base. Kawasaki basically guides you to create a post-purchase enchantment that makes the buyer’s guilt vanish away. He unpacks this concept in a way that leaves you in total agreement with his suggestions. As an entrepreneur, you’ll find more than a few gems in this book to get you thinking about how to really take care of your customers. As a customer, you’ll be keeping an eye out for businesses that employ this kind of caretaking so you can support them further.

Ten Lessons for a Post-Pandemic World by Fareed Zakaria

We live in a world where Covid has become the norm. This book by Fareed Zakaria eggs you to look beyond the pandemic situation and salvage the positive aspects of your business. It’s all about, “the world that is coming into being as a result of the pandemic and – more importantly – our responses to it.” He’s beautifully articulated every aspect of a post-pandemic world in a set of 10 lessons. It’s a more serious kind of read where it sheds light on the political, technological, and economic implications of a post-pandemic world, from the quality of government to the rise of digital media.

The Blueprint: 6 Practical Steps to Lift Your Leadership to New Heights by Douglas Conant

You can consider this book as a part manifesto, part practical manual. It is centered around 6 principles that Conant used to transform his professional journey after being fired without warning in 1984. It’s the kind of advice you’d expect your boomer dad to give: Reach high, dig deep, lay the groundwork, design, build, and reinforce. Conant has applied his principles to go on to become the CEO of the Campbell Soup Company and president of Nabisco Foods. Through various exercises, he helps leaders boost their leadership, navigate difficult situations, and make meaningful changes in their organizations.
