Kerr explains Warriors’ adjusted rotations in win over Kings – Quora

Steve Kerr has been teasing alterations to the Warriors’ lineup for a few days, and on Monday at Chase Center against the Kings, he was finally able to make them official.

It goes without saying that Kerr and the coaching staff still have a lot to work on despite the Warriors’ 116-113 victory over the Kings.

Kerr had previously informed reporters that he intended to reduce the size of the Warriors’ second units, and he did so against the Kings, with varying degrees of success.

Anthony Lamb, a two-way player, and Jonathan Kuminga, a 2021 lottery choice, were the first two players to come off the bench in the first period. Ty Jerome and Jordan Poole also participated in the first frame.

Moses Moody entered the fight in the second quarter, although James Wiseman and JaMychal Green were not involved.

After the first half, with the Warriors down by 12 points, Kerr made yet another lineup adjustment, starting Poole in place of Kevon Looney.

After the game, Kerr told the media that the first half went very much according to plan. “And then, just as a changeup, we decided to start Jordan in place of Loon at halftime. In the first half, we made mistakes. After a strong beginning, we simply ran out of steam. Therefore, the second half was more about finding things out. However, we wanted to get Jordan moving to see if we could open up the field a little.

The Warriors’ quality of play dipped after a strong opening to the contest. Before halftime, Poole (minus-19), Lamb (minus-12), Kuminga (minus-17), and Moody (minus-16) all had difficulties, which forced Kerr to make adjustments.

The Warriors broke their losing streak with a win by starting the second half on a 13-4 run with their small-ball team. Steph Curry then took over and gave the Warriors the victory.

Kerr told reporters, “I really loved our intensity in the second half.” “We held them from 4-of-18 from three, compared to 10-for-22 in the first half, and it just felt like we were making our presence felt simply by the energy and flying around.

So, in the second half, we managed to do what needed to be done, but at that point, we were just winging it.

There is still much for the Warriors to learn.

None of the five players on the bench who entered the game with a positive plus-minus scored more than five points. With a superb 47-point performance, including 17 in the fourth quarter, Curry saved them.

Before the Warriors’ upcoming game on Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kerr and the coaching staff have three days off to work on things.
