Three people felt sick following a hazmat incident in San Francisco on Sunday afternoon, February 18, 2024.

According to the San Francisco Fire Department, the incident happened at around 4:00 p.m. at a single-unit apartment complex at 625 Bush Street in Union Square.

SFFD said that the incident was triggered by a refrigerant leak from within the apartment. It was an isolated case and did not affect any of the neighboring units.

Three adults were reportedly evacuated from the building. They were treated by the responding medical crew and were released shortly after.

The chemical leak caused traffic delays within the area, specifically between Powell and Stockton Streets.

SFFD is still investigating what caused the refrigerant leak. Further details were not provided.
