A 32-year-old female bicyclist was hospitalized following a bicycle vs. vehicle crash in Long Beach on Sunday night, February 11, 2024.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. at the Bay Shore Avenue and Second Street intersection.

LBPD stated that the female bicyclist was making a left turn in the intersection when she was hit by a car going straight. Auhorities believe that both the cyclist and the driver entered the intersection at a red light, resulting in the collision.

A medical professional happened to be near the crash and assisted the cyclist before responding officials transported her to a local hospital. She is in stable but critical condition.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the police. LBPD is convinced that speeding was not a factor in the incident.
