A motorcyclist was killed, while a driver was injured following a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash in Madera County on Tuesday afternoon, February 13, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident happened at roughly 5:38 p.m. around the Road 30 1/2 and Avenue 9 intersection.

CHP believes that the rider was going west while the driver, inside a black Nissan Altima, was heading east when the collision occurred. For still unknown reasons, the rider suddenly crossed the center line into the opposite side of the road, striking the car.

Officers pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet or any safety garment. Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

It is still unclear whether or not alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.

Investigations are still underway.
