Three teenagers were killed, while three others were injured, including police officers, after a police chase resulting in a two-vehicle crash in Fontana on Saturday night, February 3, 2024.

According to the Fontana Police Department, the deadly collision happened at around 11:00 p.m. near the Cypress Avenue and Valley Boulevard intersection.

Authorities said they tried to pull over a Nissan Sentra for code violations, but the driver refused to stop and sped off instead, resulting in a pursuit. The police chase was brief, lasting only a few seconds, but it was alleged to have reached up to 100 miles per hour.

The pursuit ended when the driver lost control and collided with a separate police car that jumped in to help. Both the Nissan and the police car sustained significant damages following the collision.

FPD confirmed three fatalities, all of whom were passengers of the Nissan and were Carter High School students in Rialto. They were later identified as 15-year-old Robert R., 15-year-old Omar P., and 14-year-old Domonic A. Meanwhile, the driver, who remains unnamed, was hospitalized with major injuries.

Two police officers who were in the patrol unit that was hit were also hospitalized with serious injuries.

Investigations are still underway.
