A 42-year-old pedestrian woman was killed in a hit-and-run collision in San Diego on Friday evening, September 22, 2023.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred in the 5700 block of Division Street at around 8:35 p.m.

Authorities stated that the pedestrian was pushing a shopping cart with various items in the eastbound lane when a dark sedan struck her. The sedan driver did not stop to help the victim, but a witness called 911.

San Diego Fire Department personnel and Falck paramedics attempted to save the woman’s life but pronounced her dead at the scene. It was determined that blunt impact injuries to the head were the cause of death.

The victim’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin is notified. An investigation is underway to locate the hit-and-run driver.
