A 64-year-old bicyclist was injured following a hit-and-run collision involving a bus in Ventura on Thursday morning, September 21, 2023.

According to the Ventura Police Department, the collision happened around 9:50 a.m. along Telegraph Road near Joanne Avenue.

A blue Ventura County Transportation Commission bus passed by and hit the handlebar of the cyclist, causing the victim to be pummeled to the ground and struck by the bus’ rear wheels.

The bus driver fled the scene, leaving the 64-year-old Goleta resident with major lower-body injuries.

The police identified the suspect as a 33-year-old Oxnard resident named Edgar L., who was booked into the Ventura County Jail but was later released on bail.

The condition of the victim remains unknown, while authorities are encouraging individuals to give information related to the hit-and-run collision.
