[08-15-2023] Santa Cruz County, CA – DUI Driver Causes Series of Hit-and-Run Collisions, Injuring Two People in Watsonville

Two people were injured after a series of hit-and-run collisions caused by a DUI driver in Watsonville on Tuesday afternoon, August 15, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the Accident east of Mesa Verde Drive near Green Valley Road around 5:00 p.m.

After colliding with at least three other vehicles, 53-year-old Francisco R. crashed into a house with a red 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. He was taken to an out-of-county trauma center for treatment after suffering significant injuries.

In one of the earlier crashes on Green Valley Road, the car’s occupant suffered minor injuries and property damage. There were no injuries to the occupants of the house.

No further information was released about the crash.

The suspect is facing arrest for felony DUI and hit-and-run charges after authorities believe alcohol and drugs were involved in the crash.
