[07-08-2023] Stanislaus County, CA – Homeless Woman Killed After Being Hit by Lawn Mower in Modesto

A homeless woman was killed after being run over by a lawn mower in Beard Brook Park, Modesto, on Saturday afternoon, July 8, 2023.

According to the Modesto Police Department, they responded to the accident on Yosemite Avenue along Dry Creek at an unspecified time.

One of the crews of Grover Landscape Services, driving a John Deere tractor with a pull-behind mower, noticed a body in the grass after passing through it. The landscaping crew reached 911, but the woman had already passed away.

The victim was later identified as 27-year-old Christine C., unhoused and asleep on the grass when the lawn mower hit her.

The reason why the landscaper missed the body before passing through it is still unknown. The investigation of the crash continues.
