[06-13-2023] Los Angeles County, CA – Male Scooter Rider Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle in Long Beach

A male scooter rider died after being struck by a vehicle in Long Beach on Tuesday evening, June 13, 2023.

The Long Beach Police Department received a report in the Pacific Coast Highway and Junipero Avenue area. When officers arrived, paramedics attempted to administer life-saving treatment to the victim, but he died.

Authorities stated that a 2018 Dodge Challenger driven by a 21-year-old was heading eastbound on PCH when the victim crossed the roadway on a scooter in the middle of traffic outside a crosswalk.

Officials said that the motorist reportedly struck the rider after being unable to avoid him. The driver stayed at the crash scene and cooperated with the police investigation.

The pedestrian’s identity is withheld until the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner notifies the next of kin. At this time, authorities do not believe speed, drugs, or alcohol played a role in the collision.
