[06-03-2023] Riverside County, CA – 46-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Killed After Amtrak Train Collision in Highgrove

Joe C., 46, was struck and killed by an Amtrak Train in Highgrove, Riverside County, on Saturday evening, June 3, 2023.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau, the incident happened on the tracks east of 1200 Springs Street at around 7:30 p.m.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad officials conducted the investigation and have yet to release much information. It was unclear why the victim was on the tracks.

Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no evidence yet that drugs or alcohol were involved in this incident.

The data also shed light on the number of railroad injuries and deaths. In 2021, eleven workers were killed on the job, but more passengers were killed.
