After a car accident, it’s possible that you won’t be able to think effectively. The outcome of your lawsuit will be significantly affected by the statements and actions you took at the accident site. The following suggestions may help you avoid a reduction in your personal injury claim value:

  • After the collision, call the police and ensure that an officer creates an accident report.
  • Note your injuries, the accident site, property damage, weather conditions, road conditions, and the vehicle that hit you.
  • Take pictures of the driver’s license, insurance card, and license plate.
  • Obtain the names and contact information of everyone who have witnessed something.
  • Visit a doctor or other healthcare professional immediately and inform them of all affected body parts.
  • Document your injuries and recovery in a journal. Describe how you feel, the care you receive, and the expenses you incur.
  • It is prudent to consult a lawyer before accepting an insurance adjuster’s settlement offer.
