[07-11-2022] San Bernardino County, CA – 14-Year-Old Teenager Killed, Three Others Moderately Injured in Fatal Rollover Crash in Rialto

The California Highway Patrol reported that a 14-year-old Fontana teen was killed in a car accident on the Route 210 Freeway in Rialto on July 11, 2022.

The crash occurred at around 10:23 p.m. on the eastbound 210 Freeway, east of Locust Avenue.

A 2011 White Honda Civic was being driven at an unknown speed on the 210 eastbound.

According to the CHP, the driver allowed his car to veer right and into an ascending dirt embankment for unknown reasons, which led to the car overturning.

A 14-year-old boy who was riding in the back was thrown from the car as a result of the collision. He died due to his injuries, and emergency personnel declared him dead at the scene.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s office must still identify the deceased and notify the next of kin before releasing their identity.

According to the CHP, the collision caused three additional passengers in the car to sustain moderate injuries.

Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics

The number of people killed in single-car accidents in California is shockingly high. When an accident involves only one car, only that car is damaged. Accidents can be caused by various factors, such as a driver losing control and crashing into something or a collision with a stationary object. Drunk or sleepy driving, low visibility, and bad weather are all contributors to these accidents.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 62% of all traffic fatalities in California are the result of a single-vehicle accident. California drivers need to be alert at all times due to the high number of potential distractions on the road.

A single-vehicle crash can be caused by a number of different things. Runaways and accidents are more common on wet roads, especially when drivers are going fast or making sharp turns. A piece of truck cargo or a downed tree limb could cause a roadblock.

Even if the other driver was negligent, your ability to recover damages in a single-vehicle accident may be severely limited by the coverage plan of your insurance policy.
