One person was killed, and another was severely injured in a two-vehicle collision near a freeway entrance in the Clairemont region on Monday, October 3, 2022.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the fatal collision happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. on the on-ramp from Regents Road to eastbound state Route 52.

California Highway Patrol online logs indicated that two sedans collided on east SR-52, blocking Regents Road access.

The city agency reported that one person passed away at the scene.

Paramedics transported a second patient to a hospital for treatment of serious wounds.

The collision resulted in the closure of the freeway connector until late in the morning.

The Accident remains under investigation.
