[07-13-2022] Shasta County, CA – One Person Injured in DUI Crash in Whiskeytown

A driver was arrested, and a passenger was taken to the hospital after an overnight DUI rollover Accident in Whiskeytown on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Highway 299 close to the Whiskeytown Visitor Center.

One car overturned and caught fire after colliding with a rock outcropping and igniting.

The highway was closed for about an hour while crews extinguished the fire.

According to the CHP, the driver, Damian Fr., 25, of Indiana, was detained for DUI.

According to police, the passenger was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
