Council reveals start date to move Harrow’s war memorial

The London Borough of Harrow has revealed that work will start on the relocation of Harrow’s War Memorial next week.

Plans for to move the memorial were announced last June. For almost twenty years the monument, based outside the old Civic Centre in Wealdstone, has played a pivotal role in the borough’s Remembrance Day service to pay tribute to those lost in conflict.

Works to start the relocation process will commence on Monday, 8 April.

The memorial, made of granite, will be “carefully dismantled by experienced stonemasons” say Harrow Council.

It will be re-installed at its new home in St Ann’s Road, Harrow Town Centre. This will take several days to complete and updates are expected via the Harrow Council socials.

Once in place at its new location, the memorial will continue to be the focus of future Remembrance services in Harrow.
