Review: We check out Harrow’s Duck In The Pond

Tags: duck pond food

Harrow has a fair few good pubs but, if you prefer to avoid the noise and crowds of the town centre pubs you may want to check out Ember Inns’ Duck In The Pond.

Where is it?

Located on Kenton Lane, Stanmore (postcode HA3 6AA), Duck In The Pond has a large car park which is free of charge for customers (just make sure that you enter your registration number on arrival). The pub can also be accessed from Central Harrow by buses H19, H18 and 186.

Take a seat

My husband and I visited Duck In The Pond for lunch on a Friday afternoon. While fairly busy, the pub was not rowdy and the large and airy size of the venue meant that there were plenty of tables free.

The pub is bright and clean with lots of natural light and, in the warmer months, customers can take advantage of outdoor seating options including benches at the front of the building, the garden to the side of one of the cute huts.

Seating area outside.

The toilets (both male and female) are clean and well maintained (apart from one slightly wonky toilet seat). The loos are located at the top of a set of stairs however there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor for those unable to manage steps.

The Food

Duck In The Pond offers a wide range of Food options, all very reasonably priced and, deals include:

  • Sunday lunch from £11.99
  • Three courses for £12.29 from the Fixed Price Menu The pub also offers a Vegan And Vegetarian menu as well as a Children’s Menu, making it extremely family friendly.

The main menu includes tapas style small dishes and we shared salt and pepper chicken wings, crispy prawns and an order of chips which came to £15.47. While fairly simple, the food was freshly cooked and very good value.

The food

Food and drinks can be ordered either from the bar or by using a QR code at your table for extra convenience.

Water off a duck’s back

This great venue offers a large range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as tea and coffee. We shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio which, at £15.99, was great value.

If you feel like getting all fancy, the pub also sells a range of cocktails as well as some great beers. If you happen to be a fan of cask ales, you can bag pints for just £1 on Mondays and Thursdays. Customers can also help themselves to cucumber water from dispensers on the bar.

Drinks

Service with a smile

The staff at Duck In The Pond are extremely friendly and helpful and food and drinks are delivered to your table promptly. We had a small issue with a sticky table when we arrived and this was dealt with quickly and cheerfully.

The verdict

If you’re looking for somewhere clean, friendly and peaceful for a family meal or a catch up with friends, Duck In The Pond is a really good option.

This underrated pub serves simple but fresh food and a wide range of drinks – all at budget-friendly prices.
