Harrow residents planning to travel by rail this weekend are advised to prepare for potential disruptions as national rail strike action is scheduled for Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3.
While Transport for London (TfL) staff will not be participating in the strike, some services may be affected due to reliance on rail operators and ongoing planned works.
TfL has indicated that the majority of their services will run normally; however, commuters should anticipate some impact at certain stations. Additionally, TfL services and roads may experience increased congestion around event venues on Saturday, June 3. Therefore, travellers are urged to plan their journeys in advance, check for updates, and allocate extra time for their travels.
London Underground services are expected to be affected as follows:
Bakerloo Line: On Friday, June 2, Marylebone station will be closed for Bakerloo line services starting from 23:50.
District Line: On Thursday, June 1, the last trains to Richmond will depart from Turnham Green at 00:15 due to the national rail strikes. On Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3, the following services will be affected: no service between Turnham Green and Richmond before 05:30 or after midnight, and no service between Parsons Green and Wimbledon before 06:30 or after midnight on Friday. On Saturday, there will be no service between Parsons Green and Wimbledon before 06:45 or after midnight.
Additionally, from Saturday, June 3, to Sunday, June 4, there will be no service between Earl’s Court and Richmond/Ealing Broadway. Alternative Tube, Elizabeth line, or Rail Replacement Bus services should be used.
Piccadilly Line: On Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, there will be no service between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town, including the Friday and Saturday Night Tube services. Passengers are advised to use alternative Tube, Elizabeth line, or rail replacement bus services.
London Overground services on Sunday, June 4, will experience no service between Watford High Street and Watford Junction before 07:00 and after 19:00 due to national rail strike action. Additionally, there will be no service between Camden Road and Stratford after 22:15, and between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction after 22:15. Rail replacement bus services will be available for affected routes. Furthermore, there will be no service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction, with a rail replacement bus service in place.
The Elizabeth line will be affected as follows: on Friday, June 2, there will be no service between Maidenhead and Reading before 07:00 and after 19:00, no services from Paddington National Rail platforms before 07:00 and after 19:00, and no service between Brentwood and Shenfield after 23:30. On Saturday, June 3, there will be no services from Paddington National Rail platforms before 07:00 due to national rail strikes.
The DLR services on Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, will experience no service between Prince Regent and Beckton, with a rail replacement bus service provided. Additionally, from Tuesday, June 6, until Thursday, June 8, there will be no service on all DLR routes after 23:30. Alternative Tube, London Overground, local bus, c2c, or Southeastern services should be used during this period.
Bus services may also experience delays, diversions, or changes to their routes during the weekend. TfL expects to run a good service but recommends passengers anticipate possible disruptions. Increased traffic and large crowds are expected around various event venues, including Rose Hill roundabout, Lords Cricket Ground, Mall and Horse Guards Road, Wembley Stadium, East and Central London, and Brockwell Park.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host Beyonce in concert on Saturday, June 3, and Sunday, June 4, causing additional traffic and crowds. On Sunday, June 4, the Disney 100 Concert will take place at the O2 Arena Greenwich. Harrow residents are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider using alternate modes of transportation if necessary.
Furthermore, ongoing HS2 works at Swiss Cottage will lead to lane closures on the A41 Finchley Road, Avenue Road, College Crescent, and Hilgrove Road until Saturday, June 24. Delays are expected in the area, and commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead of time, allowing for extra travel time. Temporary closure or relocation of some bus stops may occur, and the latest information can be obtained from TfL’s Journey Planner or by downloading the TfL Go app.
