Review: We visited The Whittington Flaming Grill in Pinner

The Harrow Online team were invited to the newly reopened Whittington Flaming Grill in Pinner this past weekend to try some of the new offerings, check out the menu and take a first hand look at the new refurbishment.

We started out with drinks at the elegant, new bar. The drinks menu features an array of wines, cocktails and beers. If you’re a cocktail lover, you should definitely check out the fabulously named ‘Zombie Pitcher’ which features Havana Club Cuban Spiced Rum and Bacardi Rum mixed with passion fruit and Schweppes Lemonade.

The bar

After being shown to our table by the lovely Deborah, we had a chance to check out the new interior which is both contemporary whilst maintaining its natural authentic feel, old regulars of The Whittington before it became the Pinner Arms will be pleasantly surprised.

Very warm and cosy inside.

The atmosphere could be described as rustic, cosy and almost homely inside, with a large outside seating area too – it was a bit cold to spend too long out there, however!. During the summer, an al fresco dining experience at The Whittington in Pinner will no doubt prove to be a big hit.

The menu itself features a plethora of burgers, steaks and dishes to choose from. For starters we opted for 16 boneless chicken wings served in a BBQ sauce with Jack Daniels with Onion Rings. They did not disappoint and contained a modest 1137 shared calories. Highly recommended as a starter.

Boneless Chicken wings and onion rings.

For the main dishes, we opted to try the Mixed Grill, a 4oz rump steak, gammon, a chicken fillet and pork sausage with a free-range fried egg and onion rings. Served with grilled tomato, chips and peas. Couldn’t finish it! Very nice food, served exactly as we asked and the portion size is generous.

The Mixed Grill

We also tried the Signature Stack Burger – 2 flame-grilled beef burgers topped with smoked streaky bacon, beef burnt ends in Texan-style BBQ sauce, cheese and 2 onion rings. With fries, 3 onion rings and a pot of ketchup. Again, the portion size is generous and the meats are of the highest quality.

The other dish we opted for was the ‘Beyond Burger’ –  A  vegan alternative with a Beyond Meat patty topped with guacamole and tomato salsa. Served in a poppy seed bun with vegan mayo, baby gem lettuce, tomato and red onion. With fries, 3 onion rings and a pot of tomato salsa.

After all of this, we decided not to go for any dessert (on this occasion) however the restaurant offers a variety of tasty treats including  The Funfair Sundae Jar – a popcorn layered with chocolate flavour and vanilla flavour ice cream, squirty cream, salted caramel flavour sauce and Chocolate Flavour Sauce, topped with a cream-filled doughnut and candy floss.

There’s lots on at The Whittington

Other dessert options include fudge cake, Lotus Bischoff cheesecake and Epic Choctastic Sundae, containing chocolate and vanilla flavour ice creams topped with squirty cream and piled high with Maltesers, Cadbury Crunchie pieces and Mars chunks, chocolate flavour sauce and crispy wafers.

The menu really does feature something for everyone. If you’re looking for somewhere different to try in Harrow, a visit to The Whittington would be a good chance to check out a new dining experience, or just stop by for a drink to check out the new refurbishment.
