Poppy Appeal launched ahead of Remembrance Sunday parade in Harrow

The Poppy Appeal has been launched in Harrow ahead of Remembrance Sunday on November 13th.

Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Janet Mote will lay wreaths across the borough in honour of our fallen soldiers on Monday at the war memorials listed below. Harrow Council have stated that residents are welcome to join the mayor at the ten locations.

12.35pm: Wealdstone Memorial – Monument (Clock Tower) on High Street – junction with Spencer Road – HA3 7AL

12.50pm: St Mary’s Kenton –Kenton Road on the corner of St Leonard’s Avenue – HA3 8DB

1.10pm: Edgware – outside No.95 High Street – HA8 7DB

1.25pm: St John’s Church, Old Church Lane, Stanmore – HA7 2QX

1.40pm: Leefe Robinson, Elms Road Graveyard, Entrance off Elms Road – HA3 6BT

1.50pm: Harrow Weald, All Saints Church Yard, 90 Uxbridge Road – HA3 6DQ

2pm: Harrow Weald Park & Memorial Club – Opposite Harrow Weald Memorial Club, 376 High Road, Harrow – HA3 6HE

2.15pm: Pinner Peace Garden, West End Lane, Pinner – HA5 1AH

2.45pm: Harrow-on-The-Hill War Memorial (Grove Hill), The Grove Open Space, Harrow-on-the-Hill – HA1 3AQ

3pm: St John’s Greenhill – Plant First Cross of Remembrance, Church of St John The Baptist: Sheepcote Road, Harrow – HA1 2JE

Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Janet Mote said: “We should never forget the sacrifices made by the brave men and women in our armed forces. They give up so much to protect many of our freedoms that we enjoy today.

“I invite everyone to join me at the wreath laying events and our Remembrance Sunday Parade and service to pay your respects to our fallen heroes. I also encourage residents to support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal who help support veterans, serving an ex-serving personnel in our Armed Forces.

“This is something close to my heart as my late husband was in the armed forces and our two sons also served in the army. Please support the British Legion and wear your poppy with pride.”

In addition, Remembrance Sunday itself will be marked in Harrow Town Centre on Sunday 13 November with a parade starting from Katie’s statue at 10am. The parade will march down Station Road and then to the Civic Centre.
