HYDERABAD: A 27-year-old engineering graduate working as a supervisor at a brick kiln in Andhra Pradesh was arrested for blackmailing a minor girl from the city to make nude video calls after hacking into her Instagram Account.
G Manoj a native of Ibrahimpatnam in NTR district of Andhra Pradesh was arrested from his house by a special team on Sunday, over one-and-half-year’s after the 17-year-old filed the complaint in 2021. Police seized a cell phone and a SIM card from his possession.

“The accused threatened the girl that he would circulate her morphed obscene photos from her Instagram account if she failed to make nude video calls,” Rachakonda Cyber crime ACP SV Hari Krishna said.
Cops said the accused had destroyed his phone after coming to know of the complaint and a special team had subsequently gathered technical evidence to zero in on Manoj.
Manoj, who is addicted to porn, used to collect social media login credentials by sending phishing links. He would create fake Instagram profiles with photos of random girls and send friend requests.
If anyone accepted his request, he would send a phishing link, which would require the victim to type login credentials to see the content. When the gullible victim tried to login, their credentials reached the accused and he would hijack the account, cops said.
“After gaining access to the girl’s account, he posted vulgar comments along with her photos. When the girl tried to contact him, he used to blackmail her to make nude video calls,” the ACP said. The accused was remanded to judicial custody on Monday.
