1. PM Narendra Modi, in a call with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, expressed India’s solidarity with Israel while condemning terrorism strongly. Meanwhile, the Congress Party has reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause. 

2. After Israeli authorities said that they found over 1500 bodies of Hamas militants on their territory, Hamas’ armed wing, the al Qassam Brigades, has warned residents of the Israeli city of Ashkelon to flee before 5 pm local time. The War toll has now crossed the 3000 mark. 

3. NewsClick Founder Prabir Purkayastha’s Counsel, addressing the court today, asked whether reporting on the India’s COVID-19 policy and farmers’ protests be called ‘terrorism.’ Purkayastha and NewsClick’s HR head Amit Chakravarty are under detention.

8. A study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences says that a rise in global temperature by 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels will expose 2.2 billion people living in Pakistan and India’s Indus River Valley to heat that exceeds human tolerance. 

9. Following the series of accidents in firecracker manufacturing units and godowns, an explosion at a fireworks factory in Tamil Nadu’s Ariyalur District has killed 10 people. 

10. On World Mental Health Day, the Union Minister for Health said the Center’s Tele-Mental Heath Assistance and Networking Across Sates (Tele-MANAS) has offered counseling support to over 350,000 people till now, with at least 1,000 calls received every day.
