  1. Hamas strikes on Israel kills 150 and at least 1000 people injured. The Palestinian militant group has also taken 53 people hostage. Meanwhile, retaliatory strikes by Israel in Gaza have killed over 230 and injured 1,790 people.
  2. NewsClick’s former employee Anusha Paul’s residence in Kerala was raided by a Delhi Police team as part of its probe against the portal for alleged funding from China. Paul has called the search a witch-hunt against the organization.

  4. ISRO has developed a basic test module for its Gaganyaan Mission. The Indian Space Agency is working on a human-habitable space capsule capable of carrying a three-member crew into a space orbit of 400 km for three days and return to safety.
  5. Days after a fire tragedy in a fireworks manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu, a major fire broke out at a firecracker shop in Karnataka’s Attibele. Four people, including the shop owner, suffered minor injuries.
  6. The GST Council, chaired by FM Nirmala Sitharaman, delegated the taxation of Extra Neutral Alcohol (ENA) to the states. Unpacked flour with 70 percent millet content would attract no tax, and GST on molasses has been lowered from 28 to 5 percent.
  7. Ahead of a Supreme Court hearing, the center has banned four insecticides, including the popular Monocrotophos. However, the Pesticide Action Network (PAN) fears that allowing the sale of Monocrotophos 36 percent SL, till stocks are cleared, could prolong its usage.
  8. Khalistani terrorist Gurcharan Singh was arrested in the UK on October 2 for a hate crime and was later released on a personal bond. He was holding anti-India protests outside the India Mission and was seen abusing a Gujrati and also the Indian flag tricolor.
  9. An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 struck near Afghanistan’s western city of Herat closer to the Iranian border killing at least 15 people and 78 people injured.
  10. Amid a “war” like situation in Tel Aviv after Hamas strikes and retaliatory airstrikes by Israeli forces, Air India has canceled the Delhi to Tel Aviv flight scheduled on October 7, also its return flight.
