  1. Indian lawmakers today moved to the New Parliament building. PM Modi led them by foot to the New Parliament and requested that the old Parliament building be called ‘Samvidhan Sadan’ (Constitution House).
  2. After seven days of fierce battle between security forces and terrorists holed up in the Kokernag forests, the Anantnag encounter ended on Tuesday. LeT commander Uzair Ahmad Khan (28), a resident of Nagam Kokernag in Anantnag, was eliminated in the operation.
  3. The 4th soldier who died in the ‘Garol operation’ (Anantnag encounter) is 27-year-old Sepoy Pradeep Singh. Hailing from Patiala in Punjab, he was part of the quick reaction team. Pradeep, who married last November, leaves behind his pregnant wife.
  4. The Women’s reservation bill (‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’) was tabled in Parliament today after the Indian cabinet approved it. PM Modi called ‘September 19’ a ‘historic day’ for taking up the bill that promises 33% reservation for women in Lok Sabha and all State Legislative Assemblies.
  5. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau on Monday accused the Indian state over Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing and expelled a top Indian diplomat from the Country. Rubbishing Trudeau’s allegations as “motivated,” India retaliated by asking a senior Canadian diplomat to leave for involvement in “anti-India activities.”
  6. After Cauvery Water Management Authority’s directive to Karnataka to continue the release of 5,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu for another 15 days, Karnataka Dy CM D K Shivakumar said the state government will approach the Supreme Court challenging CWMA’s order.
  7. Baljinder Singh Balli (45), a local Congress leader in the Moga district of Punjab, was shot dead by an assailant who barged into his residence forcibly. Cananda-based Khalistani extremist Arsh Dalla, in a Facebook post, has claimed responsibility for the killing.
  8. Reliance today launched Jio AirFiber, going live in 8 cities, with a basic plan starting at Rs.599 and its high-end plan at Rs.3999. The portable wireless AirFiber unit operates on high-speed 5G technology, unlike a Wi-Fi router that uses fiber optics.
  9. ISRO on Tuesday morning performed a key maneuver to push its Solar observatory craft Aditya-L1 out of the Earth’s orbit. Now Aditya-L1 will begin its voyage to the Lagrange Point-1 in the Sun-Earth system, reaching its destination in 110 days.
  10. Google is releasing a much more equipped version of Bard. The generative AI chatbot from Google allows users to double-check their answers, collaborate, and integrate with other Google apps and services like Gmail, Maps, YouTube, etc.
