Today we’re going to talk about what is the best T-shirt printing method. Before we get into lots of details with that, let’s be honest here, there is no one-size-fits-all methodology. 

There are different techniques that we’ve gone over in our 2022 Ultimate Custom T-Shirt Printing Guide.  But the reality is, of the four types each is good in its own way. For example, screen printing is great for your longer press runs like hundreds, thousands, ,5000 shirts, 10,000 t-shirts. It’s not so ideal for anything under 50 unit. Direct to garment, not great for more than 150 but perfect for 50 units. DTG (Direct to garment) is amazing for one through 149. Direct a film transfers and sublimation are kind of the same thing. Sublimation works with polyester items. Direct To Film transfer works well on anything. Finally, for DTF’s you can do for one, or you could do for hundreds depending on the printer that you go to. and the equipment that they have.  

It is very important for you as a consumer to identify whether you’re buying these shirts for personal use or business use? And, what type of a final product do you want? Do you expect to feel the ink? So as you run your hand over the garment, you feel a difference between the garment and the ink layering? Or do you want your ink flush with the garment? Because those are two different techniques. So for example, if you wanted it flush with the garment, you should contact the direct to garment printer because they will print you a product that will sit in the fibers of a T-shirt.
