Meatless Menu Items and Lenten Seafood Specials are Plentiful at These Fast-Casual Chains

Every Lenten season, believers abstain from eating meat on Fridays. For years, McDonald’s popular Filet-O-Fish has been a go-to staple on Fridays during Lent, but more fast-food brands have gotten into the act and have gone way beyond the standard breaded fish sandwich. From fish tacos to Shrimp bowls and more, the Lent-friendly franchises below are offering fun and creative options for Lent 2023.

Lent 2023: Fast-Food Deals, Promotions and Seafood Specials

Pancheros

Through April 9, Pancheros is bringing back its sweet and zesty shrimp at participating locations. The shrimp is made-to-order and sautéed in a blend of smoked jalapeños, onions, garlic and a hint of honey. The sweet and zesty shrimp can be added to all burritos, bowls, quesadillas, tacos and salads.

Popeyes

For Lent 2023, Popeyes is offering its Flounder Fish Sandwich and the Shrimp Tackle Box at participating restaurants for a limited time. The fast-casual brand also brought back its $6 Shrimp Tackle Box, which features eight Butterfly Shrimp with a regular side, tartar sauce and biscuit. 

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop

Through April 9, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is offering Margarita Shrimp Tacos. This limited edition item consists of fried or grilled shrimp, Tajin garlic sauce, green cabbage, lime cream and a margarita-tomatillo pico on a tortilla.

Arby’s

For $5, guests can enjoy Arbry’s Fish Sandwich Combo, which includes the Crispy Fish Sandwich and a small order of french fries. This deal is good for a limited time at participating locations.

Long John Silver’s

To celebrate Lent 2023, Long John Silver’s introduced the $6 Shrimp Baskets. These include the Six-Piece Grilled Shrimp Basket, the Six-Piece Batter-Dipped Shrimp Basket, and Crispy Breaded Popcorn Shrimp Basket. Guests can also enjoy $10 Shrimp Sea-Shares and the Fish and Shrimp Family Feast. To make the deal even better, Long John Silver’s is offering a $0 delivery fee on orders of $15 or more every Sunday through April 6. These food offerings are available through April 23.

Ponderosa & Bonanza Steakhouses

In honor of the 2023 Lenten season, Ponderosa & Bonanza Steakhouses is offering two seafood-centric entrée combinations at participating locations through April 8. The Shrimply Irresistible Trio is available with Fried Jumbo Shrimp, Grilled Seasoned Shrimp and Garlic Butter Shrimp skewers over rice pilaf. The Tropical Island Trio consists of Fried Jumbo Shrimp, Orange Chipotle Shrimp Skewers and Sweet Chile Shrimp Skewers over island rice.

Golden Chick

For Lent 2023, Golden Chick is offering seafood combo meals. The catfish and shrimp combo features Golden Tenders and a six-piece butterfly shrimp. The surf and turf combo features two of the fast-casual franchise’s Original Golden Tenders and jumbo-sized, three panko-breaded butterfly shrimp, one side, cocktail sauce, gravy or dipping sauce, a yeast roll, and a 30-oz drink. The 6-piece shrimp combo includes six panko-breaded butterfly shrimp with a choice of one side, cocktail sauce, a yeast roll and a 30-oz drink. The 3-piece catfish combo includes three hand-breaded catfish filets, one side, a yeast roll, and a drink. These combos are available through April 16. 

Taco John’s

Looking for fish tacos this Lenten season? Taco John’s has got you covered. Through April 9, the Mexican-inspired fast-casual franchise is bringing back its Alaska Flounder Fish Tacos. The taco features Alaska flounder and is drizzled with chipotle lime sauce and topped with shredded lettuce and pico de gallo. To sweeten the deal, Taco John’s is offering two fish tacos for $6.50. 

Roy Rogers

Roy Rogers is offering the Beer Battered Cod Sandwich as a meatless alternative this Lent 2023. The sandwich contains a cod filet with Yuengling beer batter and is topped with tartar sauce and American cheese on a corn-dusted Kaiser roll or as a platter.

Chronic Tacos

Every Friday during Lent 2023, Chronic Tacos offers $1 off all fish and shrimp tacos at participating locations across North America. These tacos can also include sautéed or beer-battered Mahi Mahi or shrimp. The deal ends April 7.  

Panda Express

For those looking for meatless options this Lent 2023, Panda Express is offering Sizzling Shrimp, which includes shrimp and vegetables tossed with a tangy sauce. This item is available for a limited time only.  

Twin Peaks

To make Lent 2023 more enjoyable, Twin Peaks is offering Fish and Chips.

Apóla Greek Grill

In commemoration of Catholic Lent and Greek Orthodox Lent, Apóla Greek Grill added the Signature Shrimp Pita to its menu. This limited time only item includes shrimp, mixed greens, pickles, red cabbage and fries on a warm pita.
