How to get a chiseled jawline with these 8 steps

You need to pay attention here because a Chiseled Jawline might just change your life.

I’m not being dramatic either.

Remember Jeremy Meek, the criminal with the chiseled jawline?

Well, he won the hearts of every woman around the globe along with multiple modeling contracts.

Not bad for a former crips gang member who did zero work to land these contracts.

It was all thanks to his chiseled jawline.

So in this article, I’m going to show you how to get the chiseled jawline that people find so attractive they can’t ignore you.

But I’ll be honest, it’s going to take a lot of work, and I’m not promising you results with these exercises and nor is this medical advice. Your genetics play a massive role in how defined your jawline is. You can only work with what you have.

This is simply a guide to improving your jawline based on the research I found and my own personal experiences. So before you do anything dodgy consult with a doctor or professional.

What are the benefits of a chiseled jawline?

First, we need to know the benefits of a chiseled jawline. It’s hard to stay committed to something if you’re not sold on the benefits. And getting a chiseled jawline has many, namely:

  • Enhancing your facial aesthetics and giving you a more defined and attractive look.
  • Improves your confidence and self-esteem, especially for people who are self-conscious about their facial appearance.
  • Making you more attractive to the opposite sex.
  • Can make you look younger and more healthy.
  • Can reduce the appearance of a double chin or face sagging.
  • Improves your fitness and overall health since you’ll need to lose excess fat.

Eight techniques to help you get a chiseled jawline

1. Build strength and improve your posture

One thing that is often overlooked when it comes to your jawline is strength training and posture. Some might not see an immediate connection but poor posture can cause your jawline to look less defined.

A 2016 study published by the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society found that patients with malocclusion (teeth misalignment) showed decreased stability and increased sway with increasing severity of the malocclusion. There isn’t necessarily a direct correlation between good posture and jawline since you can have a good jawline and still have misaligned teeth. However, there is a relationship between your posture and the jaw to some extent. Not to mention strength training can improve your posture dramatically.

Most people will see with prominent jawlines are generally fit and/or muscular. This is particularly true for fighters, which is likely due to clenching on their mouthguards and other forms of strength training they partake in.

So the moral of the story is to build strength and improve your posture. There are second and third-order effects of this which we’ll cover throughout the article.

2. Lose body fat

Have you ever heard of the Pareto Principle?

Where 20% of your efforts lead to 80% of the results.

Getting in shape and dropping body fat is going to get you 80% of the way. In my opinion, it is the fastest and most reliable way to get a chiseled jawline. Not to mention, that regardless of whatever other exercises you do, your jawline will never be defined until you lose the excess weight you’re carrying. As soon as my body weight percentage gets under 18% my jawline becomes more prominent and my cheeks look slightly more hollow.

According to one study published in the National Library of Medicine, weight loss can reduce facial fat and increase facial attractiveness. As you lose weight, the fat in your face will also naturally reduce, and your jawline will become more prominent. If you can nail this then you won’t need to both mastering everything else on this list.

3. Breathe through your nose

One simple but often overlooked technique to help improve your jawline is to breathe through your nose. As a swimmer, I’ve had no problem breathing through my nose. So it’s hard for me to resonate with people who breathe through their mouths. However, when I’m sick and I’m forced to breathe through my mouth I get headaches pretty quickly and I find it inefficient.

Dr Andrew Huberman suggests breathing through your nose forces your tongue to rest on the roof of your mouth, which can help improve your facial structure over time. When you breathe through your mouth, your tongue tends to rest on the floor of your mouth, leading to a weaker jawline and a more recessed chin.

Breathing through your nose also helps to increase blood flow and oxygenation to the facial muscles, which can aid in their development and definition. This technique is particularly beneficial when combined with other jawline exercises and a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and a balanced diet. So if you’re serious about improving your jawline, make sure to pay attention to your breathing habits and try to incorporate nose breathing into your daily routine.

4. Chew mastic gum

In addition to the jawline benefits, chewing mastic gum has been shown to have a positive impact on oral health. A study published in the Journal of Medical and Dental Sciences found that regular use of mastic gum can help reduce plaque and gingivitis. Another study published in the International Journal of Dentistry showed that mastic gum can help improve bad breath and overall oral hygiene.

So, not only will chewing mastic gum help strengthen your jaw muscles and give you slightly larger jaw muscles, but it can also contribute to better oral health. Just be sure to choose a sugar-free option to avoid any negative effects on your dental health. With its many benefits, incorporating mastic gum into your daily routine could be a simple and effective way to improve both your appearance and overall health.

Keep in mind that you can not alter your jawline bone structure, you will simply increase the muscle size from chewing.

5. Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is a “quick fix” approach to solving your puffy face issues.

Drinking plenty of water can help reduce facial bloating and make your jawline appear more defined. When your body is dehydrated, it tends to hold on to water, which can lead to puffiness and bloating in the face. Drinking enough water can help flush out excess fluids and reduce swelling, giving your face a more sculpted look.

Water helps regulate body temperature, lubricate joints, and transport nutrients throughout the body. It also aids in digestion and can help prevent constipation, which can contribute to bloating and puffiness in the face.

So, make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and help achieve a more defined jawline.

6. Avoid excess sodium

This might not be relevant to everyone but is still worth discussing. Consuming excess sodium can contribute to water retention and bloating in the face, which can make your jawline appear less defined. Reducing your sodium intake is a simple but effective way to combat facial bloating and achieve a more sculpted look.

There’s more to just an improved jawline, reducing sodium intake is important for overall health and can help prevent high blood pressure, heart disease, and other health issues. So even if you aren’t trying to improve your jawline you should keep an eye on your intake.

7. Stay on top of grooming

Staying on top of your grooming should be a given, however, if you’re not then it’s a low-hanging fruit.

But for men with neckbeards or fluffy beards, maintaining proper grooming and trimming can help reveal a more defined jawline, making it an easy and effective way to enhance your appearance.

Besides, who actually wants to have an ungroomed neck beard?

By keeping the hair around the jawline and neck area short and neat, you can create a more sculpted look and draw attention to the natural contours of your face. Shaping your beard to accentuate your jawline is also a great option to create a more defined and attractive appearance. A good example of this is Dan Bilzarian and Connor McGregor, their beards are often shaped properly so their jawline looks bigger and defined.

8. Practice facial exercises

Practicing facial exercises is a simple and natural way to help chisel your jawline.

A study published in JAMA Dermatology found that people who performed facial exercises for 30 minutes a day, for 8 weeks, had improved facial appearance, including a more prominent jawline. Whilst the study was mostly looking at age-related beauty enhancements it can still be applied to anyone that wants to improve the definition of their face.

Some examples of facial exercises that can help define your jawline include chin lifts, air holds, jaw clenches, and neck stretches.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a chiseled jawline fast?

This really depends on what you’re working with. The best thing to do is lose excess belly fat since it will make the most impact and anything else you try won’t work unless this step is completed. From here you can try to chew gum, stay hydrated, breathe through your nose, and build strength.

How long does it take to get a chiseled jawline?

This is like asking someone “How long is a piece of string?” any answer will be irrelevant since it is not specific to your particular situation. My experience has been that within two months of dieting, chewing gum, and staying on top of my facial hair I’m able to get more definition of my cheeks and jaw.

Can everyone get a chiseled jawline using these methods?

Not everyone can get a chiseled jawline. Even if you follow these techniques there is a chance it will not work for you the way you want. Genetics and expectations are the two biggest constraints to your success here.

Which technique works the best for getting a chiseled jawline?

I personally believe losing body fat (i.e. fat on your face) is the fastest way to see your jawline. Apart from this, a mixture of the techniques in this article can help. I want to reiterate that regardless of how hard you try you are not guaranteed a perfect jawline.
