This year, as the Twin Cities commemorates what would have been Prince’s 65th birthday, we are honored to welcome Kim Berry, Prince’s personal hairstylist for nearly three decades, to our Black Hollywood Panel.
Honoring “The RISE & Evolution of Black Hollywood,” this year the expo aims to shed the typecasting placed on us and observe those who have shattered racial barriers and glass ceilings to become rising stars. We celebrate their signature looks and timeless beauty throughout the decades.
The event, hosted by beauty industry’s marketing expert-Chris Bond and co-hosted by local comedian-Bianca Dennie, will offer a full day of education, networking, empowerment, and entertainment. A must-attend for all, The Twin Cities Hair & Beauty Expo cultivates a space for over 60 BIPOC vendors, showcasing their products and services to thousands of attendees.
The lineup of activities includes an amazing hair and fashion show featuring local and international fashion designers and platform artists, who will showcase their incredible talent and creativity.
Highlighting the panel discussions are three thought-provoking sessions. The All-Male Panel, “From the Heart of Black Men,” will address the mental health epidemic in the Black community. Led by moderator Stevie Baggs Jr., former NFL player, author, actor, and motivational speaker, this panel includes Ronald “Wink” Woodall-Male Mental Health Expert & Talent Manager, highly respected local businessmen Teto Wilson, Jamil Ford, Tyrone Minor, Tommy McNeal, Dre Mills, Sean James, and others.
The Black Hollywood Panel will feature industry heavyweights such as, Sports Talent Manager, owner of Goldie Belle, LLC, and Forever Golden Films-Rhonda Marie Alston; also, the Owner of Destination Casting-January Curry, whose credits include casting for BET, Netflix, and more. Joining them are local and regional trailblazers, Leonard Searcy, and Kisha Kandeh, who will share their insights and experiences in navigating through the talent industry.
The Beauty Panel will highlight the expertise of individuals who have made significant contributions to the beauty industry. The esteemed panelists include Twin Cities Beauty Icons, Michael Cole, Pamela Weems, Charisma Shannon, Monique Green, Da Twist Master, Ranada King, and the moderator, Martika Lowers.
Additionally, the expo will feature special celebrity appearances from actors Terayle Hill, Rob Malloy, actor and renowned tattoo artist, Dutchess of Ink, and national recording artist Jovonta Patton.
The Eras of Fashion Show, curated by Melanie Savage of Evolve Fashions by Coco, will transport the audience through a time capsule, displaying the evolving trends and styles that have shaped black fashion.
