Hulu Sets Record of 58 Emmy Nominations, Apple+ Bags 52
Nominations for 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced today with Hulu running for the top position with 58 nominations, a record for the service. Its last record was 27 in 2018. Apple TV+ scored 52 nominations, a dramatic jump from 35 last year. The streaming service also became the first to secure an Emmy Award in the program category in its second year of eligibility. Hulu made the record thanks to the success of “Only Murder in the Building” which got 17 noms and “Dopesick” which got 14.
Streaming giants HBO and Netflix scored 140 and 105 times respectively. HBO and HBO Max had 130 nominations in 2021, while Netflix received 129. Netflix hit a new milestone with “Squid Games” as the show makes history to be the first non-English-language show compete in the Outstanding Drama category.
Disney+ got 34 nominations compared to 71 last time and Amazon secured 30 experiencing a jump of 10 from last time. Peacock grabbed three noms and Paramount+ got 11.
