Many of the rich love to show their wealth, be it by wearing luxury clothes, watches, or owning expensive homes and yachts. By which yachts probably being the most extravagant way of showing your wealth. Luxury yachts are a status symbol, just like a Porsche, a Rolex, or owning a luxury home.

Al Mirqab – $250 Million

The Al Mirqab was built in 2008 in Germany and is 133m long (437 ft), which makes it one of the longest yachts in the world. She can accommodate up to 60 guests and up to 60 crew members, Its maximum speed is 23 knots. Amenities include a movie theater, swimming pool, helicopter pad, and more luxuries.

The Al Mirqab won the highly sought-after award “Motor Yacht of the Year” at The World Superyacht Awards in 2009. Currently, this beautiful yacht is owned by Sheik Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani and is estimated to be worth $250 Million USD.

Pelorus – $300 Million

Pelorus is Latin and stands for a navigational instrument, like a compass but instead used for taking the relative bearings of a distant object. Pelorus was built in 2003 by Lürssen/ Blohm + Voss in Germany and was Commissioned by Saudi Arabian businessman Sheik Abdul Mohsen Abdulmalik Al-Sheik.

Pelorus can house 24 guests with 12 cabins, and with 23 crew cabins, it can have a maximum crew of 46 members.

Pelorus was sold to Roman Abramovich, who did some alterations, like adding a second helicopter pad. In 2005 the pelorus was lent to Frank Lampard and John Terry for two weeks, it was a bonus gift for being the two best players at his English football club Chelsea F.C.

In 2009 Roman Abramovich divorced and his ex-wife Irina Abramovich received the yacht. In 2011 she sold the mega yacht to David Geffen for US$300 million. That same year Geffen sold the yacht to Sheik Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who then sold the yacht in 2016 to Chinese billionaire Samuel Tak Lee.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s net worth is $2.5 Billion, and Samuel Tak Lee 4.1 billion USD.

Al Said – $300 Million

In 2008 the German yacht manufacturer Lürssen finished the 7th largest yacht in the world with 155.00 m (508.53 ft) called Al Said. Its maximum speed is 25.2 knots (47 km/h). The yacht can accommodate 70 guests across 26 suites and has space for 174 onboard crew members.

The current owner of the yacht is Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman. The Sultan died in 2020 with a net worth of approximately $900 million dollars at the time of his death. The yacht is worth approximately 300 million USD.

According to yachtharbour.com, the yacht is now for sale, that is for the first time since its initial launch.

Radiant – $320 Million

The next Megayacht on this list is called the Radiant, which stands for sending out beams of brightness. It is 110.00 m (360.89 ft) long, and it can hold 20 passengers and 44 crew members. Its maximum speed is 21 knots (39 km/h).

The Radiant was finished in 2010 and is worth $320 Million, which makes it the 4th most expensive yacht in the world. It has unique features, like speed stabilizers, an elevator, a swimming pool, beach club, helicopter landing pad, massage room, swimming platform, movie theater, and more.

The yacht was built in Germany and is currently owned by Emirati billionaire Abdulla Al Futtaim, who has a Net-worth of 2.4 billion USD.

Dubai – $400 Million

The Dubai had some troubling time to be finished. Originally the mega yacht was commissioned in 1995 and was intended for the Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei. But in 1996, only a year after the order, the contract was stopped. Finally, in 2001 the yacht went to Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the current owner, and was finished in 2006.

At that time it was the longest yacht in the world, with 162 m (531 ft). In 2009 it lost its title to the Eclipse. The yacht is constructed by Blohm + Voss in Lürssen Germany and cost approximately cost $400 million to build

A+ formerly Topaz – $527 Million

The A+ yacht, formerly known as Topaz is 147 m long, (492 ft) and was built in 2012 in Germany, in the same shipyard as the Azzam. With a price tag of $527 Million, it is the third most expensive yacht in the world. The yacht is currently owned by Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, minister of presidential affairs, billionaire, and member of the royal family of Abu Dhabi.

In 2019 the yacht was renamed from Topaz to A+, it’s unclear if the yacht was sold as well.

Serene – $500 Million

Serene, which stands for calm and peaceful, was built in 2010 by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri. Its overall length is 133.9 m (439 ft 4 in) which gives her a place in the top 20 longest ships in the world.

The yacht was built for Russian vodka tycoon Yuri Shefler for $330m, and in 2015 was bought by the Saudi Arabian Prince, Mohammed bin Salman for approximately €500 million. The bin Salman family is reportedly worth over $1 trillion. In 2014 Bill Gates leased the yacht for US$5 million per week.

There are rumors that a painting from Leonardo da Vinci, called Salvator Mundi is onboard, the painting is worth almost half a billion dollars

Azzam – $600 Million

Although the Azzam is considered the longest private motor yacht in the world, it’s not the most expensive. Although, it is not cheap either. Worth a whopping $600 Million, it’s considered the third most expensive mega yacht in the world.

The Azzam was built in 2013 in the German shipyard Lürssen Yachts. Its maximum speed is 32 knots, (59 km/h; 37 mph), and is 180m in length (590 ft) giving it the title of the largest private mega yacht in the world.

It took 3 years to build the yacht, and it is owned by Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahya, the president of the United Arab Emirates.

Probably the most remarkable feature of the yacht is that it is rumored to have a bulletproof master suite and a missile defense system.

Dilbar – $800 Million

The Dilbar launched for the first time on 14 November 2015 at the German Lürssen shipyard. The current owner of the yacht is the Russian Billionaire and Oligarch Alisher Usmanov. Although, it was seized by German authorities in march 2022, as a series of sanctions against Russian oligarchs, following the invasion of Ukraine. Usmanov’s Net-worth is estimated to be 13.1 billion USD.

The Dilbar has a Maximum speed of 22.5 knots (41.7 km/h; 25.9 mph), is 156m long (511.8 feet), and can accommodate 40 passengers and 80+ crew members.

According to some reports, the mega yacht is valued at around 800 million USD. Although, after our research, we also found reports stating the price is around $256 million. Time will show when the yacht will be sold.

Eclipse – $1.5 Billion

The Eclipse is considered to be the most expensive yacht in the world, Its price is estimated to be around 1.5 billion USD. The Eclipse was built in 2009 by German company Blohm and Voss. Although today the price tag is astronomical high, the original construction costs are far lower, estimated at $590 million.

In 2011 the yacht was bought by the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, one of the richest people in the world. He earned his fortune selling his oil company Sibneft for US$ 13 billion. Abramovich’s Net-worth is approximately 8.3 billion USD.

Once, the yacht was the longest in the world, with 162.4m (533 ft). This title now goes to the Azzam, with 180m (590 ft), which is the third most expensive mega yacht in the world.

Probably the most remarkable part of the mega yacht is at the keel of the ship, where you can observe the underwater world and even swim and watch fish at the same time.
