Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of Dubai Chambers’ three chambers, has shared its achievements for the first half of 2023. Among these accomplishments, they attracted 69 emerging technology companies to Dubai through partnerships with various government entities from January to June. This aligns with their commitment to advancing Dubai’s dynamic digital economy and realizing the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

Throughout these six months, the chamber conducted 12 roadshows across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe, engaging with 279 companies, including multinationals, SMEs, startups, and scale-ups. These roadshows aimed to showcase Dubai’s immense growth potential and the benefits of doing business in the emirate while encouraging participation in the upcoming Expand North Star event, a major global gathering for startups scheduled for October 15-18.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, emphasized their dedication to fulfilling the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, in positioning the emirate as a global digital economy capital. He highlighted their commitment to strengthening the private sector’s role in sustainable economic growth and achieving the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

Lootah stated that the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy plays a pivotal role in the UAE’s Digital Economy Strategy, with plans to attract 300 digital startups to Dubai by 2024. They aim to unlock the digital economy’s full potential and propel Dubai into its ambitious future as a leading global hub for technology and innovation.

During H1 2023, the chamber launched impactful initiatives, including sector-specific digital economy workshops and two comprehensive reports on Dubai’s digital economy startup and venture capital ecosystems. They also introduced the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative, promoting digital entrepreneurship among Emirati youth and aiming to train 1,000 Emiratis by 2025.

Additionally, the chamber unveiled a platform for digital companies, offering a range of services to assist tech startups, SMEs, and MNCs in establishing and expanding their presence in Dubai. This initiative, supported by partnerships with key organizations, provides a one-stop shop for businesses seeking to grow with the backing of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy.

The chamber engaged in discussions with government entities, hosted business delegations, and facilitated 237 bilateral business meetings with a Palestinian delegation, including digital startups. They are also gearing up to host the inaugural Expand North Star event in October, gathering venture capitalists, unicorns, and startups to showcase growth opportunities in Dubai’s digital economy.
