Jio to launch 5G services in metro cities by Diwali, pan-India coverage by Dec 2023

Reliance Jio will launch its 5G services in India by Diwali, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has confirmed. The company aims to launch5G networks in four metro cities- Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai by the end of October. The exact date is still unknown, but you at least know when 5G services will be made available in India.

Reliance Jio plans to launch 5G network across the country in a phased manner by December 2023. Mukesh Ambani made this announcement while addressing the shareholders at the Annual General Meeting. Mukesh Ambani said that to build a pan-India 5G network, Reliance Group has committed an investment of INR 2 lakh crore and Reliance Jio has an ambitious roll-out plan to make it the fastest in the world.

“Jio will be deploying the latest version of 5G, called Standalone 5G, which has zero dependency on our 4G network. With standalone 5G, Jio can provide new and powerful services like low latency connectivity, large-scale machine-to-machine communication, 5G voice, edge computing, and network slicing and metaverse,” said Mukesh Ambani.

“Jio 5G services will connect every place, everyone, and everything with the highest quality and affordability. Even ahead of China and the US, we are dedicated to making India a data-powered economy,” said Mukesh Ambani. Reliance JioInfocomm has secured spectrum in the 700MHz, 800MHz, 1800MHz, 3300MHz, and 26GHz bands in the recently concluded 5G auctions by the Department of Telecommunications, where the government received bids worth around INR 1.5 lakh crore.

In the recently held spectrum auction, the company has bagged the “largest and most suitable mix of wireless spectrum for 5G”. With a 700 MHz spectrum footprint, Jio is said to be the only operator that offers pan-India 5G services with fast speeds, low latency, and massive connectivity. According to reports, Reliance JioInfocomm, India’s largest wireless operator, will be able to offer up to 1Gbps speed to users at affordable prices but not disclose the tariff at which it would launch 5G services.
