India-based higher EdTech platform upGrad on Tuesday (August 2) said that it has acquired Exampur, a government jobs test preparation platform,  for an undisclosed amount. The Noida-based learning platform, Examspur is approaching revenue of INR 70 crore in this financial year. Overall, Examspur claims that it has a growing subscriber base of over 12 million with an average viewership of 2.5 million students and leads the Hindi-speaking markets in Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, and Bihar with 90% of its paid users are from tier 2, 3 and 4 markets. There are channels for each – banking, defence, UPSC, SSC, teaching as well as other state-level government job preparations.

Exampur also offers Online Test Series, Live Scholarship Test, Free Quiz, Study Material Repository, and E-Books Portfolio for candidates who can access them anytime. UpGrad is expecting to end its current financial year (FY22) with consolidated revenue of INR 1900 crore. The company’s chairperson and co-founder Ronnie Screwvala pointed out that the company has hit overall profitability in the current quarter.

In FY21, UpGrad recorded consolidated revenue of INR 302.26 crore and a net loss of INR 211 crore, according to regulatory filings. In the fourth quarter of the current FY22, UpGrad aims to reduce its loss to about INR 150 crore in FY22. In the current financial year, the company has acquired KnowledgeHut, Talentedge, Impartus Innovations, Work Better Training as well as Global Study Partners.
