MyDoge, a popular self-custodial social Dogecoin wallet, has added a feature that allows users to buy their favorite gift cards directly from the app using their Dogecoin (DOGE) holdings. Following an announcement last month from founder Alex Lewis, the developers recently included the feature in their latest app update, version 1.6.0.

The development has been well received by many users and DOGE supporters, with the comment section littered with excitement. Several users have already begun using the feature to purchase gift cards from different brands, including Visa and PlayStation.

The feature is already live as of press time and can be found in the app’s newly introduced “Shop” section. Hotels.com, PlayStation, Visa, Amazon, Xbox, and Binance are among the brands currently available, depending on the user’s location. Furthermore, the team has included an “Earn” feature that rewards cashback on DOGE purchases made with fiat.

Growing Adoption of MyDoge 

MyDoge, which was launched in beta exactly a year ago, provides DOGE supporters with a platform to seamlessly self-custody their holdings. Several features have been added to the app over time to improve the in-app experience. Among these features are Dogeverse, a social platform, and the ability to use fiat for DOGE as a means of payment.

As things progress, MyDoge has seen an increase in user onboarding, particularly since the FTX collapse last month, which put investors’ trust in centralized exchanges to the test. To protect themselves against a similar occurrence, crypto supporters, including DOGE users, have turned to self-custodial solutions.
