Introduction to Full Body Red Light Therapy Panels

It’s a question we must first face with qualifiers, as frankly (and as usual) the red light therapy panel industry has been tainted with opinions, sales spiels, and very few facts!

In today’s world, there really is no telling who is honest and who isn’t, so once a year or so at TLA I write a blog series to try to dispel the latest myths, in the hope that they do not propagate into facts! In saying that, you do not have to believe a word I say, and ***Disclaimer, I write these blogs with the aim of answering the question in detail, not to make claims about the devices or efficacy there of.

For those of you who haven’t read one of my blogs before, my name is Jonathon and I’m the founding director of therapylights.com.au . Within these blogs, my opinions have changed and evolved over time, and this is why I do not name names of companies that are ‘wrong’ and ‘right’. I simply go over what is common, and what we advise here at TLA to our customers…

What do we consider to be a Half Body Red Light Therapy Panel?

In short, anything that is 900w-1800w will be classed as half body at TLA.

For example: A 900w/1000w panel, is usually going to be 91 cm long and 21 cm wide. They vary a little depending on who’s making them, and what year model they are, however rule of thumb, all TLA panels that are 900/1000w are about this size.

Now depending on who you ask, this may be considered a full body solution. Without being height-ist, this really does depend on your own physical size.

For instance, if I was 1.2 m tall, and very slim, fair enough, a 900w Home red light therapy panel would pretty much cover my whole body. Especially if it were a TLA Black II series 900.

However, I am not 1.2 m tall, I am about 190 cm tall or about 6’2”. This means that this device will be closer to a half body solution for me than a full body solution. Technically, if all the other red light therapy companies had really short staff, they may be being honest saying a 900w panel for instance is a full body device.

At TLA, we consider (in most circumstances) That 2 × 900w panels (or a 900w + a 600w at the absolute minimum) will constitute a full body solution for the average user.

Exceptions to this rule are panels that are above 3000w
I would say that our Black II 3200w Near infrared light therapy panel, would be a full body solution for most shorter folk, and if you’re a bit wider it will be more ideal than a 900w panel. I would also say that anyone who needs 2 × 3200w panels, is likely to be someone who is over 2 m tall.
If you are taller- average height, our Pro 3000 and 6000 models are both almost 2 m long, so these ones require just one panel for 99.9% of users.

We are into reality at TLA, another reason I wanted to write this blog. There is no judgement from us, just guides based on actual reality and the size of the area we are looking to irradiate.

I hope this clears up what constitutes a half body solution in most cases, and how much bigger a full body red light therapy panel setup is. The big tip we can take away from this section is that taller users (or multiple different users) may need 2 panels to get a full body at home red light therapy solution, OR an item that is 3000w or above.

What is a full body red light therapy panel?

As mentioned, putting 2 × half body panels together, is one of the most ideal ways to achieve full body red light therapy at home. This is because the setup can be taken apart and moved around easily, which accommodates for versatility to living situations. Adding a stand is something we almost always recommend, and I will touch on that below. We do not recommend the stands to increase our profit margins. In fact, the stands are large, heavy, and difficult to post, so they are not a high profit item.

In most cases, especially if budget is a factor, we will recommend buying 1 × panel and a stand, instead of 2 × panels. The real reason we encourage customers to buy stands is for customer satisfaction.

We know 100% of us will use the devices 100% more if we can lay down under them; we have proved this enough times by now! Given red light therapy is more about consistency than selecting the perfect device, it is in our interests to make sure you use the devices a lot. This will lead to much more positive reviews for us, which will help us grow a lot more than negative reviews will. It is for this reason that we will recommend a stand and a panel 100% of times over 2 × panels with no stand, despite it being a cheaper solution.

A short story that I repeat 10× a week or more, is one about my dad. I gave him a very nice 1500w ‘Full body infrared light panel’ for Christmas in 2021, and in 2022 a year later, I got it back, in its box. It had been used twice. I then gave him a relatively cheap Red and infrared LED light pad and he uses it daily and thinks it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

So is this because the pad is a better product?

Not at all! The ‘full body’ panel I selected at the time, was full body in the context of our LTE series of panels, meaning it is the closest to a full body solution within TLA’s LTE range. The issue with the LTE series red light therapy panels, is that they are non modular, meaning that they cannot link together with other panels, or with a stand.

The LTE series actually comes instead with vertical and horizontal hanging hooks, so you can buy a $3 hook from a hardware store and hang it from the roof. This would save you $100s or even $1000s on a stand. The reality is, my dad is not the best handyman, so the panel went wasted on him and was returned almost unused.

It is for this reason, I recommend picturing and planning your ideal set up, and making sure it fits into your lifestyle, rather than going for the cheapest option.

What are the best full body red light therapy solutions on the market?

In general, the most popular shape is the Black Series 1800w Full body red light therapy

Combo or the upgraded Black II series model pictured below. The Black II series of red light therapy panels is in our opinion the most advanced and best quality full body red light therapy panel setup money can buy. It did take me over 12 months of testing, over $100,000 and 4 rounds of prototypes to be happy, so you can be sure the added price is justified!!!

What is the difference between the Black and Black II series?

The Black II series has the following features improved from the original Black series
