How to feel more confident as a creative business owner

One of the most common things I see, is creatives not feeling confident as a Business owner. They don’t know what to post online, they struggle to find words at networking events. They are scared to make themselves visible. And so they start to believe that they are not good enough. That they are rubbish at marketing. In the worst case, they believe they should go back to employment. This lack of confidence has nothing to do with your ability to be successful, however. Instead, it has everything to do with lack of clarity and guidance. Top athletes don’t reach the top without a coach! Here’s how to feel more confident as a Creative business owner.

How to feel more confident as a creative

“I am not sure who my audience is”
“My offers are not quite right”
“I am not confident about making myself visible”
“I am not sure what to say when someone asks me about my business”

Are you sure about these things, and feeling confident? Or is it all feeling….a little overwhelming?

I hear these statements all the time from clients. Illustrators, web designers, coaches, etc; they are so passionate about their work, but they simply feel stuck when it comes to getting their message out there. Why? Because it is clear as mud. And when clarity lacks, the panic sets in.

Have you ever felt shaky and nervous before giving a presentation? Then you probably know that was mainly because you didn’t prepare as well as you should have. (Unless you really suffer from stage fright!). Preparation is key in most cases. If you know your phrases and the structure of your presentation, and how to deliver it, you have nothing to fear. But if you don’t prepare well, and you don’t think about your key message, you’ll be feeling flustered and without words.

Know what to say, and the rest will follow

Most creatives have so many ideas in their head, that it is hard to focus. And when there is little focus, there is no clarity around what to put out there in terms of content. This is such a common problem, and I have helped hundreds of clients with this. They simply need to find their own authentic marketing message and shift their energy as an entrepreneur.

It is not rocket science. You are not rubbish at marketing, nor are you a failure. This is all easily turned around, with a bit of work and thinking. Once you have your message clear, life will become so much easier!

Confidence comes with a great elevator pitch

I can help you turn muddy messages into crystal clear wording after just one session, if you are willing to put in the work. And this can completely turn your business around in as little as a week and get you new clients. Because it has happened. Not bragging. True story.

Now, this does not happen with all of my clients (disclaimer), but it did with Ben, whom I only started working with 10 days ago. His event business in NYC had died a slow death over the past few years, and he wanted to resuscitate it. It only took one look at his website for me to see what was the problem: he was only talking about himself, and why HE loved his business so much. Wrong tactic.

This is a common mistake, and easily solved. Ben and I spent our first coaching call diving into his audience and all of the reasons why THEY would want to hire him. Light bulbs went up, engines started roaring, Ben was on fire.

Feel more confident as a creative entrepreneur

Once you rewrite your message and make it all about your audience and THEIR desires, your life will become so much easier. Suddenly you start recognising ideal clients everywhere, you start getting brilliant ideas for content, and you will know EXACTLY what to say during a sales call. It will roll off your tongue, with confidence.

Don’t believe me? Ben got himself booked for three events already this week, just by strengthening his message and his energy. Both turned around 180 degrees.

If you want to turn your muddy message into a client magnet too, call me. Work with me during my Signature 3 month programme, or just book me for a one-off Light Bulb session. Check them out here (you can book them online straight away). 90 minutes, you and me on Zoom, let’s get your business flying!

What others say about me
