How I help new entrepreneurs as a creative business coach

Non-standard business coaching for creative minds

I come at it from a different, Creative angle.

Over the years I have built up heaps of knowledge throughout my career as marketing and audience development manager and consultant in the creative industries. I helped hundreds of creatives put their passion into words, and get better at marketing.

And by being a serial entrepreneur myself, I have also developed a way of life that I know appeals to many fellow free spirits who are looking for a more creative business coach to help them.

I am curious, positive and easy-going, but also great at inspiring clients to look outside their ‘safety box’, and I push them outside of their comfort zone.

People are capable of so much more than they think, and it’s fear that is holding them back.

I have started various businesses from scratch, in different countries, both online and physical, and I know what it feels like to work hard and learn on the job.

This experience helps me to place myself in my clients’ shoes, and not just talk at them from a top-down marketing expert’s point of view.

I have been outside my comfort zone many times, and I am not afraid of it. I know you can go here too. You will work it out, you really will.

Learning is a life-time purpose. I am incredibly grateful for all that life has taught me.

I want people to experience that sense of freedom and adventure that I feel, and not be tied to a 9-to-5 job if there are other options. There are always other options, but you got to think outside the box. Life is too short to limit yourself, right?

I often bring ideas to the table my clients never thought of before.

Having that creative brain, this comes natural to me.

(Semi)passive income ideas, or other ways to create income streams, and simply making clients think differently and getting them unstuck, are examples of this. I love seeing the light bulbs going up!

Clients often start a call feeling stressed and overwhelmed, and leave feeling calm and in control again.

As a Creative Business Coach, I always aim to get a deep understanding of who my clients are (I often do personality tests with them, such as the enneagram), so we can make wise decisions, that help them get into the flow rather than only swim upstream.

Some clients need a fast-paced style of coaching, others need a little more time to digest and implement things.

Building a business, for me, is holistic, and requires more than quick wins for it to become sustainable, even though there are systems that help you reach your goals faster. The personal development part, in my eyes, is at least as important as the marketing planning. You creative business is YOU.

How I work with my clients

There is no size fits all in my style of creative business coaching, but I do have my set ingredients:

  • Breaking through any fears and mind blocks
  • Gaining clarity on niche, audience, offer and message
  • Setting goals for the future: income goals, lifestyle goals, business goals
  • Creating a plan to reach those goals

Some people need very practical marketing help (I know how to build funnels, websites, email lists and content plans, and I am a pro at blogging), others need more mindset work to build up the courage to become the entrepreneur they want to be.

I intuitively feel what my clients are struggling with, and sometimes get firm when I see there is a mindset issue that needs to be addressed first before jumping ahead to the business building.

But all of the people I work with, will find their authentic marketing voice, and walk away with more clarity, a strategy for their business, and, more often than not, new, and higher paying clients. They feel ready for the next steps in their business!

I sit down with with my clients, and we make a plan for the next 12 months.

I want to know their goals, their values, and what makes them tick.

Why do you want this business so badly?

We jot down all the things they want to achieve, and by when. Then I ask them to come up with ideas to get to that point. I often throw in some other ideas too. This document, or blue print is something we often return to during our calls, to hold my client accountable and on track.

I care more about my clients’ results than anyone else!

What I bring to the table as a creative business coach

I am a self-starter, and I have reinvented myself on multiple occasions, carving out a new life in different countries (I emigrated twice), starting online and physical businesses from scratch.

Stepping out of my comfort zone is my second nature. I am most proud of my clients when they do this too, break through mind blocks, face the fear, and start believing in themselves. That’s when the magic begins to happen.

I am an optimist with great positive energy, and my creativity and artistic side are my fuel.

I am a creative through and through, and this combined with my expertise in business, copywriting and marketing, I offer a great mix to other creative entrepreneurs looking for a coach who understands them and their type of business.

All of my clients, without exception, feel more confident and clear about their future and business goals after working with me.

I often say that “I am helping my clients sift through their junk yard of ideas in their head, and dig for diamonds“.

My clients tell me that they feel less overwhelmed, and calmer after our Zoom calls, because I make things simple for them.

My approach to marketing

I help my clients find their authentic voice in marketing their business. Authentic is the only, ethical way for me. Nobody likes to be sold too, but everybody wants to be helped. Be the helper.

Seeing the results from content marketing myself (through SEO and blogs), this is a big part of my teaching, and I encourage my clients to put their story, beliefs, and point of view into words and share it with their audience too.

I look beyond just social media. I work with my clients to find the best tools and platforms for their business and goals.

The best way to attract ideal clients, is to speak to their heart’s desire.

Whatever media they choose to express themselves in, it is a standard part of my coaching to help clients tap into their creativity, and come up with a content plan and start sharing their unique story.

What you should not expect from me

First of all; I don’t tell my clients what to do. I am a coach, not a teacher, so my role is to help my clients to make their own decisions.

I also don’t promise you $10k months.

This 10k and 6figure obsession on social media that is currently rife, is really not helpful. If you are already making a good income from your business, and 10k/month is a realistic goal, then by all means, aim for it. But new creative businesses are very unlikely to make that kind of money within the first years of business.

I help you to stay grounded, realistic, and focused.

Also, I believe we should aim for a sustainable business that brings us fulfillment, is aligned with our values, AND earns us money. Money should never be your main driver. And if it is, then I am not the right coach for you!

But if you like what you’ve read so far, and you are looking for a coach or mentor who ‘gets’ your creative mind, and can help you feel better about your business, and in control of your future, then I’m all yours. Call me.
