Recent discoveries of ancient settlements on Al Sinniyah Island, a popular tourist destination 42 miles northeast of Dubai, by archaeologists in the United Arab Emirates, have shed light on the area’s early history.

According to the nation’s Department of Tourism and Archaeology, the findings came from excavations, one of which was focused on the remains of an old pearling metropolis and finished in March.
According to the Miami Herald, archaeologists believe the site is at least 1,600 years old and possibly dates to the fourth century, which is one or two centuries earlier than previously believed.
At the site, numerous big jars that had been imported from Mesopotamia were found, according to officials.
Aramaic inscriptions found on two of the vases date the objects to between the first and fourth centuries.
Based on their results, archaeologists speculate that the ruins could be those of the lost city of Tawam, which is mentioned in historical texts.
What is ‘pearling’?
According to CNN, which cited officials, pearling is the activity of diving into the ocean to retrieve pearls and other underwater species. It has been a part of the region’s culture for thousands of years.
Images display a number of stone walls that are close to the coast. When viewed from above, they seem to create many rectangular rooms.
The previous four years have seen extensive excavations on the island, and officials predicted that these efforts will certainly continue.
