Watch: What can we expect from the total solar eclipse of 2024?

The United States is agog to see this extraordinary occurrence since the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) said that a total Solar Eclipse is anticipated for next month.

On April 8, 2024, a total Solar Eclipse is predicted by NASA to span North America, going across Mexico, the US, and Canada.

According to NASA, this occurs when the “moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun.”

In order to safely witness the spectacle, experts have emphasized the need of using solar eclipse glasses.

However, how will this astronomical event appear?

The moon will momentarily completely hide the sun during the eclipse, and according to NASA, “the sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk” as the eclipse’s path of totality begins at 1pm CT.

“The skies are going to get darker, with more than 90% of the sun getting covered, even though there is only a partial eclipse over Chicago,” NBC 5 meteorologist Kevin Jeanes stated. “The sun’s crescent form may be seen in all of the shadows and when seen via the camera on your phone. Although it feels foreboding, this is a really exciting time.”

Recently, a video of the 2017 solar eclipse that was seen in Nebraska has surfaced again, showing the moon gradually enclosing 90% of the sun, leaving just a little portion visible.

The sun then rises once again, resembling a lightbulb flicking across the sky, while the moon eventually recedes.

Because the moon will take a little longer to go through its orbit over the face of the sun, this eclipse will stay longer than others.

August 2044 will see the next complete solar eclipse in North America.
