German-murdered Pakistani national is buried in Karachi

Monday saw the funeral services for Muhammad Faheemuddin, 58, a German of Pakistani descent who was fatally stabbed in his Ulm, Germany, home on Friday. He was buried at the Sakhi Hasan cemetery.

The relatives and neighbors of the deceased say that racial and religious prejudice was the driving force behind the attack.

On Friday, a male German had broken into Faheem’s house and assaulted him and his Family with a large blade. In the incident, Faheem lost his life, but his wife and 13-year-old daughter were reportedly unharmed. His two daughters had escaped the assailant by sheltering inside the house, so sparing their lives.

Police arrived at the scene in response to an emergency call, shot and killed the attacker. According to the German authorities, the assailant suffered from mental illness. Nonetheless, the deceased’s family was requesting that the Pakistani government press for a comprehensive investigation.

International Cargo transported Faheem’s remains to his former neighborhood of FB Area, which he had fled in 1992, in Karachi.

The funeral prayer was attended by a sizable number of neighbors, friends, and family.

Following the janaza prayers, Ahmed Saeed, Faheem’s neighbor in Germany, said that the attacker had a prior history of fighting with individuals of foreign descent. Still, he argued, it seemed dubious that he was being labeled as mentally sick.

Faheem’s two kids, who survived the attack, have moved live with Saeed’s family, according to him.

Faheem’s boyhood friend and neighbor, Humayun Mehboob, bemoaned the passing of a decent guy who had fled Karachi during the greatest law and order crisis of 1992 in order to build a family in secure Germany, only to tragically encounter racial hostility even there.

The family and friends reported that Pakistan Embassy representatives were helpful, and Ali Zahid, the Pakistani Consul General in Frankfurt, sent his condolences to the bereaved family and promised to provide them with every support. The community and family of Faheem said they want the offender to face consequences.
