‘May 9 narrative’ is buried by election results: Imran Khan

The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, backed the Corps Commanders’ Conference statement that was made public by ISPR the previous day and called for the punishment of individuals who caused the May 9 riots on Wednesday.

The top military leaders reaffirmed on Tuesday that May 9, 2023, attackers of military installations and those who planned, encouraged, aided, and desecrators of martyrs’ monuments would undoubtedly be held accountable under applicable legal and constitutional provisions.

The Corps Commanders’ Conference expressed worry over the deliberate dissemination of false information and fake news by some evil actors in an effort to create division and hopelessness in society.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Gen. Syed Asim Munir, presided over the meeting at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, where the patriotic citizens of Pakistan were exhorted to stay upbeat, stick together, and fully engage in the advancement and development of their nation.

“Attempts to incite confusion, distortions, and disinformation are completely pointless and merely a component of a coordinated campaign aimed at serving petty political agendas, obscuring the heinous acts that occurred,” the ISPR declared in a statement.

Imran Khan addressed the media today at Adiala Jail, saying, “Identification of individuals involved on May 9 should be made through CCTV footage, just as individuals involved in the Capitol Hill attack in the United States were apprehended with the help of CCTV footage.”

Khan questioned why, in relation to the May 9 event, a judicial committee had not yet been established. “There is no desire to carry out an open investigation into the events of May 9. I demand that those responsible for it face consequences.”

According to him, rejecting Pti Reserve Seats is equivalent to undermining democracy. “How can those who were not entitled to have [PTI’s] reserve seats be given them?”

Khan also said that it was unlawful to deny the PTI reserve seats. “The dissolution of the nation was caused by the deprivation of the mandate from the people of East Pakistan as well. In the history of the nation, these elections were the most manipulated, he said.

According to the PTI founder, the country’s economy will suffer and further losses would result from the rigged elections. “The country cannot function without political stability, and the Sharif family’s politics are dependent on SIFC,” he continued.

Regarding claims of election tampering, Khan stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan and the caretaker administration bear accountability. “Even the election winners are aware that there was electoral manipulation. They should only inspect four constituencies if they believe that the elections were fair.”

“Is a nonviolent protest a conflict? There is no need for democracy if this is a conflict, said Khan. “Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Khawaja Asif have said that General Bajwa had promised to overthrow the government.”

“Bajwa also instructed us to sit quietly and be nice boys. I can’t just sit here and be a slave,” he murmured.

According to Imran, some people received votes while others were proclaimed the victors. The speaker went on, “The PML-N did not have more than 25 seats, but their government has been formed.”

“The nation accepting slavery always ends,” Khan said in response to accusations that it was accepted. Our party has no opposition from the troops. One does not criticize the army by criticizing elections.”

He added that on February 8, the day of the general elections, the narrative that had been developed following the events on May 9 had collapsed. “People did not think that we had betrayed the country.” I will not submit to servitude, so you can keep me in prison for as long as you like. The economy has been submerged by the political shift,” he continued.

The PTI founder reaffirmed that Pakistan could not be stable without a stable administration. “I said in the IMF meeting that without political stability, the economy cannot improve, and transparent elections are the only way to achieve this.”
