Authorities say eight people are injured in a blast at a cafe in Bengaluru, India

Authorities stated that a suspected homemade bomb that went off on Friday during lunch at a Cafe in Bengaluru, the Indian city known for its technology, injured at least eight people.

When the explosion happened at the east of the city’s Rameshwaram Cafe, people were queuing up for a quick lunch from surrounding offices shortly after 1:00 p.m.

Reporters were told by Karnataka state’s chief minister, Siddaramaiah, “It seems someone kept a bag and left and it exploded… it was not a big explosion.” Bengaluru is the state capital.

Eight people were hurt, and investigators believe it was an improvised explosive device, according to Siddaramaiah, who goes by only one name.

Minister G. Parameshwara of the State Home (interior) stated that all of the injured were receiving treatment in hospitals and were not in danger.

Co-founder and managing director of the network of cafes, Divya Raghavendra Rao, stated she was informed there had been two explosions within ten seconds of each other.

Rao told the local TV9 news channel, “It happened in the area where customers wash their hands… something that was kept in a bag exploded.”

According to her, the cafe provided authorities with their CCTV footage so they could look into what caused the explosion.

Local TV stations broadcast mobile camera footage taken just after the explosion, which featured a cloud of smoke filling the restaurant and one employee leaving with his hands over his ears.

Workers were bandaging the hands of several injured guys as they were assisted in walking away. The explosion’s force caused damage to a pillar inside the cafe.

Shabarish, a witness, told TV9, “I heard a loud sound and rushed to the spot and could see some smoke.”

In the confusion, he said, identity cards were scattered over the cafe and some persons suffered injuries to their arms and legs.
